The Cursed Crusade free download

The Cursed Crusade tells the tale of a pair of crusaders: Denz de Bayle and Esteban Noviembre. They're on a quest to break the curse that haunts them. Pursued by Death and in the employ of the evil Boniface, they must reunite a bunch of holy relics and save their souls from eternal damnation. At least, that seems to be what the plot is trying to convey. The game is full of exposition, with cutscene after cutscene breaking up the action, but the plot never really goes anywhere. There are no twists and no major developments until the very end; thus there is little to warrant the two hours of cutscenes within the game. Denz and Esteban might have made for a likeable duo, if the script were any good or if the cutscenes were well directed. Scenes cut out in the middle of dialogue while screen tearing plagues the cinematics. Denz and Esteban are well acted, but the writing itself makes the chemistry feel forced. There are attempts at humor in the second half of the game, but the jokes also fall flat. During one scene, which tries to ape the "This is SPARTA!" line from the movie 300, Denz's character model simply failed to load, making it farcical for all the wrong reasons.

Rogue Trooper is a third-person shooter based on the 2000AD comic of the same name. In case you don't follow British comic books, Rogue Trooper is a gritty sci-fi strip about a genetically engineered soldier named Rogue who fights in the perpetual war that wages on the planet of Nu Earth. It's an interesting premise, and the story translates well into a video game, allowing for some unique gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately, the standout features in the game are negated by a stunted single-player campaign, limited multiplayer, and a handful of annoying design flaws. The story in the game of Rogue Trooper sticks close to the comic. You play the game as Rogue, a genetic infantryman, or GI. Rogue is a special kind of soldier cloned and bred to survive the harsh conditions on the planet of Nu Earth, where two powerful factions are locked in conflict. It seems that all of the chemical weapons used in the war have taken their toll on the planet, turning it into a barren, toxic, uninhabitable wasteland. Regular soldiers have to use respirators and wear special suits just to stay alive, but Rogue and his fellow blue-skinned infantrymen are immune to the toxins, making them perfect ground troops. Rogue works for the Southers, the more affable of the two factions. His mission is to eliminate the Norts, who are the oppressive and underhanded enemy of the Southers. Although Rogue technically works for the Southers, his allegiance is to himself and his three closest squadmates.

Based on a true story, the game puts players in the role of Sgt. Matt Baker, a D-Day paratrooper squad leader as he leads the squad through the European campaign. Each battlefield has been meticulously recreated from aerial reconnaissance images, US Army Signal Corps photos and eye-witness accounts of war-torn Normandy. Brothers in Arms uses the Unreal Engine 2.0, including a modified version of the Unreal Engine 2.0, with significant improvements such as the use of pixel shaders. The enhanced engine also uses a form of Soft Lighting bloom effect. In most levels of Brothers in Arms, the player is in command of one or two separate 1-3 man teams, with the exception of several sections in which the player is not in command of any unit.

Terminator 3: War of the Machines free download

War of the Machines offers three gameplay modes, including an objective-based mission mode, basic deathmatch, and a capture-and-hold game where you earn points by securing and keeping bases (similar to Battlefield's conquest mode). The game is specifically designed to be played online, though you can play parts of it with computer-controlled bots. So, at least in theory, all the ingredients are in place for a decent online shooter. Unfortunately, things went sour somewhere. First, the game's performance is terrible. Even in single-player games, the engine would constantly choke and stagger, making us wait for it to catch up with what was supposed to be going on. The graphics are passable, but nothing special, and the model animations are stilted and seemingly incomplete. The sound, too, is sub par -- everything from explosions to ambient noises sound flat and unimpressive.War of the Machines' biggest cluster of problems, however, spout from its failure to live up to its own basic design. At heart, it's a game designed to be played over the Internet, but I was only able to find two-four online servers at any given time (there's a built-in matchmaking service), and those servers all seemed to be running on dinky cable modems with outrageous pings. For a game designed for online play, it's dumbfounding (emphasis on "dumb") that Atari hasn't provided a single dedicated server at the time that this review was written. At best, it shows a basic lack of understanding in how to launch an online game; at worst, it suggests that Atari simply lost interest at some point and couldn't be bothered with anything beyond getting the game on shelves.
